HAYMARKET – Front Royal resident Sheri Paugh, employed as a Prince William County school bus driver, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a man died in a May 23 accident involving the bus she was driving, police say.

Prince William County Police say the incident occurred Wednesday (May 23) morning on Old Carolina Road and Piedmont Vista Drive in Haymarket.
Investigators say the man was standing behind a Ford F150XLT landscaping truck, with an attached trailer, setting up a sign when he was struck by the school bus.

The victim, identified as Eusebio Joya Castro, 53, of Aldie, VA, was wearing a reflective vest.

The driver of the truck, a 62-year-old man from Chantilly, was taken to the hospital after rescuers extricated him from the cab. The driver and Ms. Paugh were both transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the incident, according to Prince William County investigators.

Paugh turned herself into authorities and was booked into the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center with a $7,500 bond.
She has a scheduled court appearance on Aug. 14.
