A Front Royal man has been arrested on a felony count of aggravated sexual assault of a minor, according to a criminal complaint prepared by Front Royal Police Department Detective D.L. Fogle.

The complaint indicates that Gilbert Edward Caison, 54, of the 400 block of Hill Street, was arrested on Wednesday, June 13, when officers responded to the 200 block of Blue Ridge Avenue to investigate a report of a sexual offense involving a seven-year-old girl.

According to the complaint, the girl’s caregiver stated to officers that she saw Caison “coming out of the bathroom zipping up his pants” and that he “was closing his pants and securing the belt.” The complaint further states that the caregiver told officers that the minor followed Caison out of the bathroom.

During an interview with police, the complaint states, Caison said the child walked in on him as he used the bathroom and asked to touch him in an inappropriate way. Caison told police during the interview that he “pushed her away” though the child continued entering the bathroom, so he complied with her request. Caison also told police that he allowed the child to touch him inappropriately “once before”, about a month prior to June 13.

According to the complaint, the child told police that she was using the bathroom when Caison entered, pushed her into the bathtub and inappropriately placed her hand on him.

Caison is being held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail.

According to online court records, from Jan. 15, 2008 to May 22, 2018, Caison has been arrested nine times and charged with various offenses including two misdemeanor assaults and a felony strangulation with injury.
