The Frederick County Sheriff’s Department hopes to find next-of-kin for a list of deceased residents, so their cremains can be given a proper burial.

WINCHESTER – Everyone deserves a final resting place, and in the spirit of the holiday season, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is trying to locate family members for cremains that are in the property room of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Lenny Millholland said in a media release, “It is sad that these people died in one
way or another and they were cremated and placed in our property room in hopes that a family member would take them and give them a proper burial or just take them home.

It’s about this time of year when the Sheriff’s Office Chaplain, Mark Ransom, comes in to say a prayer for ashes in the urns. Deputy Robert Cooley, the evidence and property clerk tries every chance he can in hopes someone say’s that it was a family member and they would take the ashes. Unfortunately, we haven’t been very lucky in locating family members.”
