Charges are pending against Mayor Orndorff, who lost control of the RTV he was driving and crashed into the town library.

STRASBURG – Virginia State Police say charges are pending in a single-vehicle crash in the Town of Strasburg, involving Mayor Richard A. Orndorff, Jr. The crash occurred Friday, May 17, at 10:58 p.m., on West King Street at South Fort Street.

In a Monday email, VSP spokesman Sgt. Brent W. Coffey wrote, “a John Deere Gator (RTV) was traveling southbound on West King Street (Route 11) when Orndorff lost control, crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the street and struck the side/front/corner of the Strasburg Community Library.”

Orndorff, 54, of Strasburg, was flown to INOVA Fairfax hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was the RTV’s only occupant.

The crash remains under investigation.
